Photography exhibition run by local volunteers to highlight Wigan's green spaces

The group of local volunteers, formed to maintain and manage Borsdane Wood Local Nature Reserve and Rayner Park, are welcoming photographers at any level to showcase their work.
Their Borsdane Woods and Beyond event will be hosted at Hindley’s St John’s Methodist Church where the work will be displayed at no cost and you will receive free refreshments.

Wednesday: 15th, 22th, 29th from 6pm-10pm
Friday: 17th, 24th, 31st from 10am-4pm
Saturday: 18th, 25th, 1st from 10am-4pm
Sunday: 19th, 26th, 2nd from 12-4pm
The Borsdane Friends Group was formed in 2009 and the Rayner Park Friends Group was established in 2018 they merged together in 2022.
The group are supervised by the Wigan Council Biodiversity Officer, Kieran Sayer, and Lancashire Wildlife Trust.
They meet Monday and Thursday at the Hindley tunnel entrance gate to Borsdane Wood at 10am to undertake activities to preserve the wildlife.

Hide AdThese include monitoring the wood, clearing litter, checking the drains, maintaining planting when needed, removing Himalayan Balsam when appropriate and monitoring the water supply and quality.
They also report any damage such as trees falling down, fences damaged, antisocial behaviour, and any invasive plants
The first Tuesday of each month the group have a meeting at 6.30pm at THRIVE in Hindley which is open to all.
The group also fundraises and commissions nature walks each year with a wildlife specialist that are open and free to all.
