He is auctioning his 2017/18 Sky Bet League One winner's medal to help the Wigan Athletic Supporters Club ‘Save Our Club’ campaign.

Nearly £500,000 has already been raised so the fans can part-own the club - or even act as a safety net should no buyer come forward.

Jones, 31, is entering his fourth season with Latics and says he wants to do anything he can to ensure the club has a future, especially one with supporter involvement.

He said: "It’s been amazing to see the club’s supporters raise so much – it just goes to show how much this place means to our fans, the staff at the club and us as players – past and present.

"The medal obviously means a lot to me but I have all those amazing memories from that season and my time with Wigan in many forms so I just felt by donating the medal I could raise more money for the campaign and get towards the initial £500,000 total.

"We have decided to do a £5 entry to this campaign so everyone who donates £5 on the dedicated page from 11am on Sunday through to 5pm on Monday will be entered into a draw."
